Fashion Prep for the Party Season

Given the luxe looks that are currently gracing the shelves of our favourite high street shops, it should come as no surprise to learn that evening dresses and evening wear have taken a more glamorous turn in time for the busiest party season of the year. We’ve put together a quick list of our top party looks for Winter 11/12.

Texture Blocking: If you loved the colour block look over summer, this is sure to be a hit for Winter. Whilst there are many daywear versions of the trend – including a range of contrast sleeve coats and panelled pencil skirts – some of the best styles are undoubtedly to be found within the evening wear market.

Animal Print: If you’re not keen on embracing a head-to-toe animal print look then work the trend into your ensemble through some clever accessorizing instead. There are a variety of luxurious finishes to choose from this season. To keep the look classic add a simple pair of leopard print stilettos to your favourite little black dress. To go for a more seasonal, catwalk-inspired look, take a leaf out of Prada’s book by investing in a pair of colourful snakeskin shoes.

Golden Age: To give a luxe edge to any look, give your wardrobe the Midas touch by adding a splash of gold. You can do this through jewellery: chunky choker necklaces and oversized cuff bracelets are particularly effective. Alternatively, you could invest in a metallic finish skirt or sweater with a light sparkle in the weave. Or for a classic party beauty look, you could invest in a long wear cream shadow, like those available from Bobbi Brown, and add a dash of sparkle to your eyes. Set your cream shadow with translucent powder and you can be sure that your eye makeup with be partying as long as you are.
